
Fantastic Fest, a film festival in Austin, Tex., known for its genre films and attention-getting stunts, will have Disney joining its party this year. That studio’s film “Frankenweenie,” directed by Tim Burton, will have its world premiere as the opening-night film.

Click here to see a larger version.“Frankenweenie” represents Mr. Burton’s return to stop-motion animation after the 2005 film “Corpse Bride.” It’s also his return to black-and-white filmmaking after “Ed Wood” (1994). The film follows a boy who, after his dog dies, devises a scientific way to bring him back to life. The voice cast includes Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short and Winona Ryder, but not a Burton staple, Johnny Depp.
