Katie Holmes and Suri Hit Up a Museum in New York City; Tom Cruise Celebrates Birthday in L.A.

While the media circus has gotten even bigger following her filing for divorce from Tom Cruise, Holmes and her adorable 6-year-old were snapped on Thursday morning in downtown Manhattan with some pals, just a day after the duo hit a local Whole Foods to stock up on some Fourth of July goodies…
Holmes and Suri swung by the Children’s Museum of the Arts in Soho, one of the oldest children’s art museums in the world. It’s famed for its interactive activities between children and artists.
It’s the latest public excursion for the twosome, who were also spotted grabbing ice cream in the East Village on Tuesday.
Cruise, meanwhile, has remained conspicuously out of the public eye.
Per People, the star, who turned 50 on Tuesday, celebrated his birthday with a low-key bash at his Beverly Hills home with his two older kids, Connor and Isabella Cruise, along with extended family.
The busy actor had been working in Iceland over the weekend, where he’d been shooting the sci-fi saga Oblivion, before zipping back to Los Angeles in time for his birthday.
But supposedly, that wasn’t how things should have gone down. “The plan was he was going to spend his birthday with Katie and Suri [in New York City],” a source reportedly told People. “Then they were going to fly to California where he is going to finish [filming] Oblivion and spend time there.”
The ex-couple might need to gird themselves for more bicoastal drama: Holmes has filed for divorce in New York, while speculation is mounting that Cruise may file his own papers in California.
