When the news broke last month that Kristen Stewart had cheated on longtime boyfriend and co-star Robert Pattinson with the married director of her film, “Snow White and the Huntsman,” it sent shockwaves through the “Twihard” universe. Fans have reacted with volcanic rage and inconsolable despair – or, in the case of Will Ferrell, both.
In a visit to “Conan” on Thursday night to promote his new film, “The Campaign,” the comedian appeared upset. When Conan O’Brien asked what was wrong, Ferrell explained what had him in such a funk. “I don’t know if you follow the news at all but there’s this actress, Kristen Stewart – KStew,” he said. “She had a boyfriend, right? Robert Pattinson, he’s RPatz. And they’re broken up. They’re not going to get back together ever.”
Ferrell began in a subdued fashion, but suddenly erupted. “They were in love. And she just threw it all away!”
O’Brien assured him everything would be fine, but this only further ignited Ferrell’s rage. “It’s not going to be fine, ever. What they had was so special, you don’t even know! You would never know,” Ferrell screamed, his voice cracking.
“I’ve been in love,” O’Brien objected.
“Not like them,” Ferrell replied. “Not like them.”
Like many other “Twilight” fans and most of the tabloid media, Ferrell reserved his harshest criticism for Stewart. “She is a trampire. That’s what she is,” he said, collapsing into sobs.
