What?! What about us!? This is a TRAVESTY! Ugh! Maybe next year…
Anyway, Jimmy Fallon has been nominated to host the Oscars, but it sounds like he is far from signing on the dotted line for the gig!
A few Academy big wigs want to hire the Late Night host to emcee, but some political drama has gotten in the way of Fallon taking the stage.
Apparently ABC, who is broadcasting the Oscars this year, is scawd of a wittle competition! We’re told:
“ABC is owned by Disney, and Disney chief executive Bob Iger is said to be unhappy with the idea of showcasing Fallon, whose show competes with ABC’s late-night show featuring Jimmy Kimmel. Fallon and Kimmel are in a neck-and-neck competition for viewers.”
The network would simply hire Jimmy K to run the show instead of Jimmy F, but Kimmel can’t because of some kind of unspoken rule that forbids the same person to host the Oscars and the Emmys.
We would LOVE Jimmy and all this charm and adorableness to host the Academy Awards this year!
HOWEVER, if ABC refuses to let him, we think the Academy should got with either Kristen Wigg (she doesn’t work for NBC anymore!), Kimmel’s ex-girlfriend Sarah Silverman, or all five hosts of The View!
The latter would ensure more fighting than award presenting… but it would be ridiculously ah-maze-ing TV!
