We’ve said it once, we’ve said it twice - gourmet junk food is big news. Need more proof? This weekend, two new burger restaurants opened in the West End.
The first – Tommi’s Burger Joint – is big in Scandinavia, where founder Tomas Tomasson currently has five restaurants. In the new London outpost, he’s serving the same diner-style burgers as at the Icelandic original. They’re cooked on an American gas grill to enhance the charcoal flavor - although the meat here is sourced from U.K. butchers. Specialties include a steak burger with homemade Bearnaise sauce and a veggie option.
The second opening – Honest Burgers – needs no introduction. The new branch of Tom Barton and Phil Eles’s no-frills restaurant (the original is in Brixton Village) has finally opened in Soho. Here you’ll find simple but top quality hamburgers and chips made with all British produce. Some call it the best burger in town. Let us know what you think.
