Popstars Hit a High Note with Signature Perfumes
Lady Gaga’s artistry really knows no bounds with the recent release of her eau de parfum, simply titled Fame.
“I wanted it to be very a slutty perfume, because that is sort of the addictive nature of fame that it is, it is very seductive,” Gaga said.
The Fame perfume, which was launched with stellar reviews and with an even more stellar debut event during New York Fashion Week, certainly isn’t the first perfume to be launched by a popstar. In a world where popstars are every now a days, you have to differentiate yourself somehow, and what better to do that with your own personal scent?
Most major popstars do, in fact, have their own perfumes. Let’s take a look back at some of the more successful attempts by musicians into the world of designer fragrance.
(Editor’s Note: I personally recommend Celine Dion‘s signature fragrance as well as Jennifer Lopez‘s Glow, both of which I have in my perfume collection; don’t knock ‘em til you smell ‘em! – Katie M.)
Beyoncé – True Star (for Tommy Hilfiger)
Although it technically wasn’t her own fragrance, there is no denying the fact that Queen Bey was indeed the face of True Star. Her endorsement of the Tommy fragrance made it one of the most successful perfume launches in recent history.
Rihanna – Reb’l Fleur
Promoted with the tagline “Bad feels so good”, RiRi’s perfume has been described as “sexy, edgy, and memorable” by critics, and was a very successfully selling fragrance in the pop world.
Britney Spears – Curious
The first of many fragrances from one of the biggest acts in pop music ever, Curious was probably the fragrance that started a trend within the music world to make a popular and high-selling perfume. And it even came with the oh-so intriguing tagline, “Do you dare?” We do, we do!
With celeb fragrances like these available on the market, there is no reason not to smell fabulous 24/7! What are your fave celeb perfumes?
